Event Description
When Charles Williams, assistant professor of visual arts at Albany State
University, first arrived in Albany, he noticed there weren’t many opportunities
for college students to exhibit their artwork.
Aware of the fact that showcasing one’s art is critical for up-and-coming
artists, he and fellow members of the College of Arts and Humanities decided
to establish the Southwest Georgia College Art Invitational, formerly known
as the Albany Area Emerging Artist Exhibit.
The exhibit also serves as a competition among the creative students, which
is broken down into three different categories: photography and graphics,
sculptures and ceramics, and drawings and paintings.
The Southwest Georgia College Art Invitational will open on Nov. 1, 2011,
showcasing works by Albany State University and Valdosta State University
students. |
